The QHSE Program is Odfjell Drilling's Corporate QHSE program as well as the QHSE program for Mobile Offshore Drilling Units, Odfjell Drilling & Technology (OD&T) and Odfjell Well Services (OWS).
A healthy safety culture in the company, an open door policy and a good dialog between management and employees are important elements in our work to improve safety and prevent major accident risk. Openness, dialog and exchange of views and experience are important requirements for continual improvement within all our operations. We have to learn from both success and failure.
In order to reduce major accident risk, we need to focus not only on analyzing high potential incidents to prevent recurrence, we also need to focus on the quality of our maintenance and technical integrity. Wrong focus on these issues may introduce inadequate improvement measures. Remember that major accident risk improvement is not the same as reducing potential for personal injuries. The way we deliver is just as important as what we deliver.
Understanding why an incident has occurred is the key to learning from it. In order to avoid incidents and accidents we have to be good at managing change – think the unthinkable, share experience, reflect and understand.
