About Deepsea Stavanger
Odfjell Invest Ltd. owns these state of the art, sixth generation, dynamic-positioned drilling units of enhanced GVA 7500 design. Both units are designed for operations in harsh environments and water depths of up to 3,000 m.
Deepsea Stavanger is equipped with a full conventional mooring spread for operations in water depths from 70 to 500 metres.
The 7500 mt loading capacity, available under all operating conditions, ensures efficiency with a reduced need for supply.
Full winterization
Full winterization may be provided for improved working conditions in an arctic environment. The rig has a state of the art, highly efficient drilling system, which includes a dual derrick with a main and an auxiliary work centre to facilitate a number of simultaneous operations.
Dual active heave compensating drawworks
The drilling system has dual active heave compensating drawworks for increased performance, efficiency, safety and redundancy.
Deepsea Stavanger is designed for worldwide operation and will be especially suitable for development drilling. They meet the latest regulatory requirements of Norwegian NMD & PSA/UK HSE & NORSOK. Deepsea Stavanger is on order from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), South Korea, with delivery scheduled for June 2010.
Green rig
Deepsea Stavanger is designed for environmental sensitive areas, and the utmost focus has been put on zero discharge low emissions and electrical solutions to reduce onboard oil volumes and associated pollution risks.
Separate drain systems are installed for the machinery area, drilling area and all outside clean deck areas. No drain water is discharged without passing a cleaning system which ensures acceptable oil content.
Installations and arrangements to obtain green rig:
-
Enclosed derrick which prevents mud spill to sea
-
All drain lines routed to central cleaning unit by use of several tanks and pumps
-
Discharge from mud pits by pumping, no gravity discharge
-
Waste management system implemented
-
Low emission of NOX, clean design engines
-
Closed loop BOP control system
-
Electrical drawworks with power regeneration
