Deepsea Bergen

The semi submersible drilling rig "Deepsea Bergen" is on a three year contract with StatoilHydro for development- and exploration drilling in the Halten Nordland area on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS). 

Deepsea Bergen is a self propelled semi submersible unit of enhanced Aker H-3.2, commissioned in February 1983 and has since launch operated mainly in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The work has included exploration drilling, production drilling, subsea completions of horizontal wells and plug- and abandon work. The rig has performed and is equipped for HPHT (high pressure – high temperature) operations.

Acknowledgement of Compliance
The Deepsea Bergen is operating in full compliance with applicable legislation. Odfjell Drilling received the Acknowledge of Compliance (AoC Diploma) issued by Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) in December 2001 for Deepsea Bergen. Deepsea Bergen is further ISPS certified. The rig has further an approved Safety Case from the UK Health & Safety Executive from April 2002.

From 2Q 2006 to the 2Q 2009, Deepsea Bergen completed a 15 well drilling- and completion program for Marathon Oil on the Alvheim/Volund field.
Deepsea Bergen worked for BP UK on the Rhum field performing HPHT work from the 3Q 2004 to the 3Q 2005.
