Fleet status

Deepsea Aberdeen is of the enhanced GVA7500 harsh environment design and will be a sister rig to the Deepsea Atlantic and Deepsea Stavanger previously delivered from DSME.

The semisubmersible will be delivered from the yard in May 2014 and will subsequently start drilling operations under a 7-year contract with BP in UK.

The new state of the art sixth generation rig is under construction at the Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME)in South Korea. Upon rig delivery, the Deepsea Aberdeen will embark on a three months voyage from South Korea to its final destination - West of Shetland.

The new unit will be involved in drilling in the Schiehallion and Loyal fields and will form a key part of the Quad 204* development. The full contract, which is subject to approval by the Quad 204 Partnership, will have a fixed duration of 7 years and is due to start in Q4 2014.

The Deepsea Aberdeen will drill and complete more than 25 wells between 2014 and 2022.

The rig will be operated from Odfjell Drilling's UK office in Aberdeen.

Deepsea Atlantic is a sixth generation deepwater and harsh environment semisubmersible. This unit, along with its sister rig Deepsea Stavanger, is a state of the art dual derrick, dynamic-positioned unit of enhanced GVA 7500 design.

Deepsea Atlantic is designed for operations in harsh environments and water depths up to 3000 metres. The rig is equipped with a dual derrick and is optimised for production drilling and completion activities. Full winterization may be provided for improved working conditions in artic environment.

Deepsea Atlantic is designed for environmental sensitive areas, and the utmost focus has been put on zero discharge, low emissions and electrical solutions to reduce onboard oil volumes and associated pollution risks.

Deepsea Stavanger is a sixth generation deepwater and harsh environment semisubmersible. This unit, along with its sister rig Deepsea Atlantic, is a state of the art dual derrick, dynamic-positioned unit of enhanced GVA 7500 design.

Deepsea Stavanger is designed for operations in harsh environments and water depths up to 3000 metres. Full winterization may be provided for improved working conditions in artic environment.

The semisubmersible drilling rig Deepsea Bergen is a self propelled semi submersible unit of enhanced Aker H-3.2 design. The rig was delivered in  1983 and has since launch operated mainly in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

The rig was upgraded in 2012. The upgrade included increased living quarter capacity and improved BOP handling facilities.

Deepsea Metro I is an ultra deep water drillship of Gusto P-10000 Design delivered by Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea in June 2011.

The drillship incorporates state of the art technology for safe and efficient operations in ultra deep water and complies with international rules and regulations for operations worldwide.

The drillship is owned by Golden Close Maritime Corp. Ltd, a subsidiary of Deep Sea Metro Ltd, a joint owner venture between Metro Exploration (60%) and Odfjell Drilling (40%). Odfjell Drilling operates the drillship.

A long standing reputation on NCS and 40 years of drilling experience means that both rig owners and operators have faith and trust in Odfjell Drilling’s role as manager.

Deepsea Metro II is an ultra deepwater drillship of Gusto P-10000 Design delivered by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in South Korea in 2011.

The drillship incorporates state of the art technology for safe and efficient operations in ultra-deep water and complies with international rules and regulations for operations worldwide.

The drillship is owned by Chloe Marine Corporation Ltd, a subsidiary of Deep Sea Metro Ltd, a joint owner venture between Metro Exploration (60%) and Odfjell Drilling (40%). Odfjell Drilling operates the drillship.
