The agreement was signed on June 6th 2007 and is a frame agreement similar to the agreements Statoil has entered with the companies Halliburton, Schlumberger and Baker within subsurface technology.
- Cooperation in development of new technologies is important to enable Statoil to reach the ambitions of increased production of oil and gas. The agreement with Odfjell Drilling will contribute to strengthen our position, says Margareth Øvrum, Executive Vice President Technology & Projects.
Statoil require technology development within the service areas Odfjell Drilling supply. Odfjell Drilling is one of the leading drilling contractors on the Norwegian Shelf and has invested resources in new technology. The company has also made great progress in development of new working processes by use of principles from integrated operations. Statoil and Odfjell Drilling will establish a steering committee where future joint projects will be discussed.
This is the first time Statoil enters this type of agreement with a drilling contractor.
- We have great expectations to this agreement and that this will contribute to technology development, says Process owner Drilling, Well & Production, Per Haaland.
Ketil Lenning, CEO of Odfjell Drilling says that this agreement is a further vote of confidence from Statoil to Odfjell Drilling.
- I think we together with Statoil can contribute with important technology development within the drilling- and well area to improve both safety and efficiency.
