SOS Children Village's

The new SOS Children's Village is situated in the small town of Mariveles in Bataan province,north-east of the capital Manila.

When completed, the children's village will consist of 12 family houses that can accommodate 120 children. The plot is 3,000 square metres. The children's village in Bataan is the first SOS Children's Village in the country to be integrated into a local community. Among other things, this means that the children from the children's village will attend the local school.

About SOS Children's Villages
The main task of SOS Children's Villages is to provide a family and a safe home for orphaned and neglected children, helping them to create a future for themselves and take part in the development of their local communities. The organisation is active in 132 countries. The organisation is apolitical and religiously neutral.

What is an SOS Children's Village?
An SOS children's village consists of 10-15 family houses, each of which houses 6-10 children and a care provider (an SOS mother). The children live with the family until they are old enough to take care of themselves. Natural siblings are not separated, and the children are given elementary education and vocational training. The first children's village in the Philippines was built in 1967, and there are now seven of them.
